Focusing on global food issues, such as food scarcity, fast-food culture, and genetically modified foods, our riotousfirst site-specific performanceBite-Sized premiered at The Black Irish Whiskey Bar and was as part of the 2015 inspiraTO Festival. The show was constructed around succinctness and pop-culture, with 6 plays presented in 10 minutes, and satire prominent throughout.
ABANDONED CITY (2015)
3 POST-APOCALYPTIC, MINI, MUSICAL WORLDS.
Featuring the inventive use of miniatures, a live orchestra and a fully devised script and story, Abandoned City was Broadleaf Theatre's first experiment with creating a show that had a fully original, fully live score. The show weaved three distinct imaginative worlds together, winning the award for Production Design at the 2015 Drama Coalition Awards and was nominated for Best Production.
THE BROADLEAF PLAYS (2014)
FIGHTING CLIMATE CHANGE: 3 MINUTES OR FASTER.
The Broadleaf Plays was first produced as a workshop presentation at the 2014 U of T Drama Festival. It featured a whirlwind series of 15 plays, each 3 minutes or shorter and that each explored a different environmental issue. The play won the Viewer's Choice and President's Award for Best Production at the festival. The show will be revised for the 2016 Toronto Fringe Festival.
